The Hills are Alive

As my broker always says, "You are only going to wish you bought more real estate later on."  I think that is definitely the case with southern West Virginia real estate.  It reminds me of the story of a seller who countered a buyer at $600,000 dollars for a large tract of land and the buyer decided to wait and get it cheaper at auction the next week.  The next week it sold for $1.5 million dollars at auction to another buyer.  That guy could have bought the land for $600,000 and turn around and sold it the next week and made almost a million dollars!  It is one of the few places in this country where you can still get an acre for $1,000-$5,000 dollars in some places.  Think about that you can't even buy a car for that much.  West Virginia is going to be the place to own land in a few years.  We have people that are buying property here as second homes, because of all the outdoors activities there are to do.  We have great whitewater rafting, skiing, and some of the best rock climbing and hiking around.  Our four seasons temperate climate makes it easy to maintain a house.  Many people live in houses in the Greenbrier Valley with no air conditioning, because of our cool climate.  Think of all the dough you could save without running an air conditioner 12 hours a day.  The mountain views are breathtaking where I live.  It amazes every day as I am driving home looking at the mountains standing tall on the horizon in every direction.  Julia Andrews would be content to sing the "sounds of music" here.  (Maybe, I should contact her about purchasing a vacation home . . . )
